I’ve made a few books

Fathomless

Published as part of the San Francisco Center for the Book’s Small Plate Imprint, Fathomless uses depth and movement in space to engage with questions around the opacity of memory and the fluid scale of the passage and presence of time. The concept is inspired by the idea of “time depth,” a term used in multiple disciplines to enable a spatial imagining of our relationship to time both as individuals and societies.

Featuring laser-printed transparency film and a modified tunnel book structure, Fathomless evokes the turbulence and vastness of the time we inhabit as individuals and the mechanics of changing memory.

Yarborough

This is a book I made for a book arts class I took from Lucy Holtsnider at Colorado College. At the time, struggling to articulate the grief I felt after the bridge club where I learned to play the card game from community elders was struck by Covid early into the pandemic. Using a deck of cards and a few letterpress phrases, I hoped to use the language of bridge itself to describe the feeling of loss.

The covers are poker cards bound to a cover-weight text block with the Secret Belgian Binding. The text itself was letterpress printed on a Vandercook 219b.
